Dr. M. A. Joseph is the Professor and Head, Department of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Calicut, and also the Director in charge of the UGC-Human Resource Development.He is also the former Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Chairman, Board of Studies of Management Studies and the former Coordinator of School of Management Studies, Calicut. He was the Principal of Calicut University Institute of Engineering and Technology (CUIET) for a short duration.

He has about twenty five years of research and teaching experience during which he has taught courses on Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, Research Methodology, Project Management, Business Communication and International Financial Management for M.Phil, MBA and M.Com Programmes.  He is also a research guide of PhD Programme both for Commerce and Management, There are seven doctoral degrees were awarded under his guide-ship of the University. Eight scholars are pursuing PhD nearing completion.

Dr. Joseph has published two dozens of research articles in national journals and has presented some research papers at national conferences and seminars. He has published seven books as chief editor. 

Before joining University of Calicut he had been teaching at Fatima Mata National College, Kollam and also had served as Manager of a Kerala Government Undertaking.

Dr. Joseph did his M.Com from St. Albert’s College, Ernakulam and did his M.Phil in Commerce from School of Management Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology. He took PhD from the University of Calicut and did the MBA, PGDHRM from the Indira Gandhi National Open University.  His doctoral dissertation was in the area of Mutual Funds.
